I started dancing at 2 years old with Tap and Ballet and by 6 years old Ballroom and Latin American at the famous Redmond’s School of Dance Crosby, with Ms Margaret Redmond and Freestyle at Millie’s ( Millington’s Dance School) Bootle with Ms Iris Mayers, were I danced and competed till I was 18. After a few years working as a nurse I returned to dance and studied Ballroom and Latin American with the acclaimed Mr Eric Lashbrooke ( former world Ballroom and Latin American Champion) qualifying as a dance teacher in 1989 with the Allied Dance Association, since then I have studied Classical Sequence with Mr David Bullen, Salsa with Mr Phil Kaila ( former World Salsa Dance champion) Ballroom and Latin with Mr Keith Morris former World Cabaret Challenge Winner.
This year I am studying to become a Licentiate in Club Dance Salsa
and Next year I hope to take my Fellow in freestyle
In 1992 I took over Dance Steps in Southport (now know as JLC) and in 1996 I qualified Dance Teacher with the United Kingdom Alliance.
After a number of years running Dance Steps the school was moved to Central Dance Studios in Southport and became known as JLC Dance in 2000.
In 2004 I became a Ballroom Fellow with the UKA and in 2005 a Latin American Fellow and later that year I was asked to be an Examiner with the UKA in Ballroom (Latin) & Theatre, and in 2009 a Fellow with the IDTA
Today I am a
Fellow of the in Ballroom and Latin American, Licentiate in Freestyle. Licentiate in Classical Sequence Requested coach in Street, Cheer, Swing, Argentine Tango, Oriental and Rock 'n' Roll

Work over the last 30 years work has included teaching and choreographing in schools, gyms, and colleges, including Lancaster University and Rossell School, as well as individual tuition both freelance and as part of both the “JLC Dance Ltd” team ” , TV work and a spell as a performance artist in the Tate, and over the years coaching couples from France, Germany and China for competition work.

I am deaf having lost my hearing as a young adult and these days I wears two BAHA’s to help me hear,
With them in I can hear normally and I am also a very good lip reader, so there is no need to shout or talk with over emphasised facial expressions
