Emma Gill

Principal of Example Dancesport Academy @ JLC

Emma has been with JLC Dance since 2017

Emma started dancing at 3 years old in her home town of Burnley. By age 10 Emma was already destined for the dance floor as she passed the auditions for a famous local theatre school and became the highest scoring medallist freestyle dancer in the country. After 9 years on the stage – including performing with Peter Kay, Russel Watson and Bonnie Langford at the Royal Opera House in Manchester . Emma took a break from dancing to pursue her love of sciences training to be a Veterinary Surgeon at Bristol University – however she missed the dance floor too much and returned in 2004 to qualify with the UKA in Associate teacher in Freestyle and Hip Hop. She then went on to become and Associate teacher in Salsa , Mambo and Merengue -leading to several years running and working with a well known school in Lancashire .In 2008 Emma was also recognised for her Ballroom and Latin teaching skills by Strictly Come Dancing Champion Karen Hardy and was fortunate enough to qualify as an IDTA Licentiate Latin teacher in 2009 and to enjoy an 8 year stint dancing Pro- Am all over the world and teaching for Karen Hardy Studios in London Now returning to her home town Emma is excited to be able to offer her style and her technique skills alongside Janet and the team at JLC .
